Dog Walking with Calm Confidence — The Visualization Method

Before getting your dog, did you dream of having long, pleasurable walks with them? A chance to keep fit, relax, and enjoy the fresh air?

But instead… does your dog pull you down the road, turning walks into a stressful ordeal?

Here are some simple techniques to try 🙂

🐾 If your dog surges ahead, give a quick, tug of the lead back towards you (never upwards). This isn’t to hurt them — just to get their attention. You can add a short, firm word like “Hey” or “No” if you wish.

🐾 Once you have their attention, relax your arm and shoulders. Any tension you feel will travel down the lead like an electric current. Keep your head high, chest forward, and keep breathing! Resist looking down at your dog as this signals anticipation of pulling.

🐾 Change direction or stop completely at times. This communicates, “You’re coming with me, on my terms.” It helps dogs realise they’re not in charge of the walk, removing the stress of “leading” you.

Imagine heading out with your dog calmly by your side, looking up at you for direction. With consistency, this is absolutely achievable.

HERE’S SOME MORE LOVE FROM SOME OF OUR FAVOURITE PEOPLE…

Vicky Townshend, Brighton Sussex

"After a few weeks of applying Sharon ’s methods, Henry and I are much more relaxed with each other and he has calmed down considerably. I would not hesitate to recommend Sharon Bolt to anyone struggling with a canine calamity. Money very well spent."

Rose Pattenden, Crawley Sussex

"I just had to write to say thank you. Since your visit I have got my lovely dog, Bonnie, and my life back! Peace reigns! Your technique works like magic, it is a miracle! (and worth every penny!) I couldn’t be more pleased."

Nikki Relffe-Arnold, Copthorne, Sussex

"Well! – I have two completely different dogs, we have gone from very serious fighting to two very balanced, obedient, and calm dogs! Your methods were incredibly simple to follow and slotted perfectly into our daily routine, but what a difference! As I am writing this I am watching the same two dogs who were previously fighting and drawing blood, rolling around on the floor playing together!

I cannot tell you how relieved I am that I contacted you and how much fun I am now having with the two of them. I would (and have!) recommend you to anyone who needs help with becoming leader of their pack! Thanks again."
