Hello, my name is Sharon Bolt (founder of Good Dogs!) and I’d like to personally welcome you to this ‘Know What To Do When Unwanted Situations Arise’ Dog Training On-Line Course.
This is how the course works…
The course is divided into 4 lessons and in each lesson I talk about different unwanted behaviours. I explain why the behaviours occur and what you can do to change them in a kind, calm and effective way. In order to help you further there are written transcripts and videos that demonstrate and clarify the methods that I suggest.
Every lesson has a written lesson and home play (it’s far too much fun to be called homework!) which will take about 30 minutes to complete. Once you’ve emailed your home play back to us we’ll go through your paper, highlighting where you’ve done well and give any suggestions that may be of further benefit to you.
We will then email your paper back and send you the link to the next lesson which again will include videos, written transcripts, a written lesson and home play. This continues until all 4 lessons are complete.
Please note: It is not essential to complete the home play to receive the next lesson although we highly recommend that you do as people tend to learn more when they write things down and answer questions. Each lesson’s home play must be successfully completed in order to receive a Good Dogs! Certificate.

LESSON 1
In this lesson there are 2 sections – here’s section 1…
SECTION 1 – What is really happening at feeding time.
There are four main areas that dogs can look for leadership, 2 of them we’ll be covering during this lesson and 2 on future lessons.
In this first video I talk about one of these areas, which is about the messages that are given during feeding time. I explain how some dogs establish a higher ranking status when they’re fed and what you can do to communicate that you are in charge in this area.

Section 2 – How you greet your dog says a lot more than just hello.
The second area that dogs look for leadership takes place when you reunite with them. When you greet your dog you are giving them messages that communicate whether you are above or lower than them in the pecking order. Watch this video to find out how you can still have all the fussing AND give your dog the right information at the same time. I also talk about how to stop your dog from jumping up too.
