Nutrition and health for your dog

YOU ARE WHAT YOU EAT AND YOUR DOG IS WHAT YOU FEED HIM/HER.

Did you know the most common disease that vets see in dogs today is diabetes?

WOULD YOU LIKE A DIET THAT GIVES YOUR DOG:

* Fresh breath and pearly white teeth and healthy gums?

* A good digestive system which means no offensive wind or 'dragging' its bum along your carpet!

* Fewer visits to the vets (due to vibrant health) potentially increasing your dogs life span and quality of life.

* Firmer stools with reduced quantity.

* A broad and varied diet without using chemicals, preservatives, colourings or heat processing.

AND GIVES YOU:

* Reduced vets bills and savings on feeding costs.

* A happy, healthy and well balanced dog.

Dogs (and cats) have lived and thrived for thousands of years without a pet food manufacturer in sight! Wild dogs and Wolves still hunting prey do not have yellow, plaque-encrusted teeth or gingivitis. Although your dog is fully domesticated and not wild, his/her digestive system  is still largely designed in the same way as his/her ancestors.

In the same way many human digestive systems cannot cope with the rapid increase of the food chain today which has resulted in Wheat, Diary, Yeast intolerances and a substantial increase in diabetes, many dogs are suffering from health problems too due to indigestible or poor nutrient food being fed.

Any kind of cooking process will damage the nutritional content of your dog's food. This is made worse still if the ingredients that went into the food weren’t much good in the first place. Vitamins, proteins, and fats are all damaged during processing, and food can lose as much as 70% of its nutritional value before it gets to your pets bowl.

Dogs in the wild live off whole carcasses including the internal organs, and the content of the stomach which usually contains ground down, partially digested vegetation containing essential nutrients.

Now you may be thinking YUK! But remember your dog's ancestors are wild dogs and although your domesticated dog's digestion system has developed to a degree, it is still primarily used to a raw food diet. When your dog is unable to absorb or break down the food you are feeding him/her, symptoms can start to develop such as skin irritations, digestive disorders, a dull coat or even nervousness and aggression.

One way of feeding dogs naturally is through BARF.

BARF stands for Bones And Raw Food or Biologically Appropriate Raw Food. The basic principle is to feed a diet that animals have evolved to eat, or to put it another way AS NATURE INTENDED.
