Dog Training Classes (for humans!)

At Good Dogs! we understand that in order to be a good 'pack leader' you need to consistently meet your dogs expectations and convince him of your top ranking status. People who achieve this often want to be able to become a dog behaviourist themselves or extend their knowledge further.

Good Dogs! hold an Exclusive 5 Day Advanced Course (Click here to see the course in action) which is
only for people who are serious about becoming a dog behaviourist or have a strong desire to increase their knowledge.

Sharon Bolt founder of Good Dogs! says ‘I believe the best way to learn is to roll up your sleeves and get involved yourself, which is why there are so many ‘hands on’ approaches and situations during the course. I also believe that small groups are more beneficial to the participants as it enables the course trainer to give each person individual attention, support and direction.

 For this reason there is…

  • A maximum of 6 people on the advanced course to ensure that all individual needs are met.

During the course you will experience:

  • The trainer conducting a ‘live’ home consultation
  • Holding your own ‘live’ consultation with  the trainer and the group supporting
  • Observing the other group members perform a ‘live’ consultation

Why are there so many live situations, all of which are not set-up or pre-arranged? Why is the trainer put under the spot light where situations could go wrong and their abilities be questioned? Because Sharon believes this is the most effective way of learning, a theory which has been echoed many times from past groups.

The practical areas were a priceless experience and worth the course price alone, given the results and confidence built.

And what about some of the clients who have attended a ‘live’ inside or outside consultation with people on the course? Can the group achieve instant results?

This is what Kay Duffy from Sharpthorne, Sussex said after she had a home consultation with 2 group members:

A huge thanks for the very informative consultation that I attended. The trainers certainly reassured me that I was doing some things correctly and gave me a huge amount of information on how I would improve my 'top dog' skills. Ellie and I returned home and have put them into practise. Dexter is responding really well and is now walking on the lead and looking up to either of us for leadership. We are really enjoying training him and he is really responding.

I want to say that the improvement was immediate and I was really surprised we managed to make a difference so quickly. We returned from the consultation and found that the whole house was calmer, even the cats made an appearance with Dexter, up until then they made great efforts to avoid him at all cost. I can now see the light at the end of the tunnel!

This is what Valerie Thomas from Worthing, Sussex wrote after having a 1 hour outside consultation with one group member:

Attending a training session with Yvonne was probably the best thing I have ever done for my two adorable (but very springy!) Springer spaniels. I really thought that I would never be able to walk them on the lead together as I just couldn’t stop them from pulling. Yvonne was brilliant! She was so easy to talk to and gave me the most fantastic ideas and tips – and they really work! I quickly learnt how important it is to be a confident pack leader, and Baxter and Poppy are so much calmer now they know that I am in control, and all they have to worry about is enjoying being out with me! We now do basic lead training around the house and garden for just a few minutes before leaving the house, and always do a little more lead training when we get to the park before playing ball. I can even take them to the allotment with me without worrying that I’m going to be pulled all the way from the car to the plot! I would recommend Yvonne’s methods without hesitation – my only regret is that I didn’t do it sooner!

This amazing feedback was written about the trainers when they performed ‘live’ consultations on day 3 and 4 of the course.
